Interesting story. Her dedication to write down everything until her very end is worth it. I guess that Titan can't handle his guilt and decided to end her despite her being a Ymir descendant?!

Damn, Hanji really is crazy. I love it. She's fucking insane for almost getting everyone in Levi's squad killed... earlier than they did in the series and she's not apologetic at all lol
Talking Titan! I remember this from the manga. Bowing and calling Ilse, Ymir-sama. Ilse should've shut the fuck up and they would've learned so much more.
Titan-kun ripped off his face :( He stored Ilse's headless body inside the tree, he still honored her to an extent considering how he lost control.

It was nice to see more focused put on Levi's and Erwin's squad especially Hanji. The talking Titan and mentioning something about Ymir, I wonder how this will add development to the main story.

A titan that can speak and can be understood by humans that was a first for mankind glad that was able to be written down sadly sacrificed in the process and that's how Hanji got the titans in the first place.

This OVA specifically is so interesting, because it gives you a glimpse of the greater story. Even though it might give you more questions, they're pretty significant questions.

Damn look at Hange strength, able to hold Oluo like that. Ilse journal must hold a good ground for Hange to put more of her effort to the titan research. That being said, even the unknown surveyor like Ilse able to put a good research toward titan and become the pioneer for the recent Hange research. Even if its cost her whole life. Interesting ova indeed.

Great added depth as always from S1 by adding depth with the background characters (Isle's parents), and explaining how that allowed Hange to capture Titans.
Although, the change of Hange and the team finding that same Titan, with it banging on the tree where he hid the body of Isle is intriguing and odd, but appropriate.
Instead of Levi simply finding the notebook while on expedition. Unless a hint of Titan or Isle's body is mentioned in another chapter.
I don't remember since stopping at Chapter 96 in 2015- now I'm rereading it while finally starting S2.
I wish they showed the moment from Chapter 20 where Hange was about to tell Eren about Isle before they were told that her captured titans were killed, which they cutout from S1 of the anime.

Hanji is really excited, she thinks the titan is toy, I'm curious about Hanji's family, definitely not like Petra's family.
She reminds me of a psychopathic scientist who follows a heroic protagonist.
Hanji, if it weren't for an anime character, I don't think she would have looked like that.
Erwin has a fondness for Hanji, I think something happened in the past that made them so close.
When Levi grabbed Hanji's collar, I thought, "Wow this detail is so precious." Both Levi and Hanji should have as much interaction as it is in their nature.
This ep is very interesting. I am wondering about the number of survey operations of the survey corps. They go about 15 times a year, so they go home once a month. But if they went to explore to expand the area, wouldn't the farther they go, the more days they return once? So 1 year they go and return less than 10 times will be more reasonable. That means Ilse's discovery should be the 41-42 instead of 34, or she'll be dead over 2 years instead of 1 year.
This ep evokes the imagination very well. All speculations make sense.
Ilse's writing ability is amazing. When the titan's mouth is on her head, she can still write ok i'm fine
Ilse's act of returning her belongings to her family caused Hanji to level up in character development. She is very responsible. It was the opposite of her lust for the titan instead of safety of her comrades.
If only Ilse wrote about her family in her diary.

I miss Petra. She was cute!
That must have been a scary experience to be lost in Titan territory on foot.
Watching this after S3, it makes sense why that Titan was able to speak.

Interesting special, they show us more things about the Titans and how important it is to return to the mission of capturing them. I liked the detail of Auruo biting his tongue while riding a horse and Levi's team members prepared to clean up haha

Fantastic episode, it adds so much to the series especially if you've hadn't seen Season 2 yet and didn't know Titans could speak.
Just the fact that Ilse made sure to note everything down despite knowing it could be her final few seconds.
