What's the best day to go to Goodwill? ›

Tuesdays are terrific for those in the know—often, this is when a Goodwill store refreshes its inventory and rolls out new items that weren't on shelves over the weekend. It's the perfect day to get that designer piece or unique item that just didn't make it out on Monday!

Goodwill uses pricing guidelines to assist employees as they determine how to price an item. While employees use a computer system to create the pricing stickers, the system provides a range of 5-10 prices for an item category. The computer system does not designate among brands.

Most store locations are open from 9am-8pm Monday through Friday and from 10am-8pm on Sunday.

Donating to local Goodwill organizations has, and continues to be, a way for people to help others in their community. Goodwill uses the revenue from donated items to create employment placement and job training to contribute to our mission.

Thursday evenings usually provide the greatest overall bargains. On Thursday, a number of department stores begin their weekend sales.

Many families will still treat the Day of Goodwill as a day of rest and relaxation after the festivities of Christmas Day. For South Africans, 26 December is in the middle of the summer, so many families choose to head to the beach or their local parks and have a picnic or braai.

Again, this is an untested theory, but some people recommend going on a Monday or Tuesday, as lots of people will have been clearing out their wardrobes/cupboards over the weekend, so there will be lots of new stock at the beginning of the week.
